Good Diet Intake and Well-Being

Poor diet intake which results in poor nutritional status could lead to physical and emotional stress.

Both fasting and stressful lifestyles can lead to hormonal unbalance and a weakened immune system results in infections and heart diseases and other forms of cancer.

Hence apart from regular laughter, a balanced diet is required for one’s well being!

Importance of Dietary Factors and Immune System!

Protein, antioxidants, essential fatty acids, and certain vitamins, and minerals are all key to a healthy immune system!

Protein energy malnutrition decreases production of immune cells (T cells and B cells) and decreases body’s ability to synthesize antibodies to fight antigens.

An increase in immunity of pre surgery patients who consumed diet that contains glutamine and arginine.

The essential vitamins for healthy immune function

Vitamin A is required to prevent impairment of t cells activity and antibody function that provides humoral immunity.

Vitamin E is an antioxidant that strengthens humoral and cell mediated immunity whereby T cells defend the body by direct contact and destroying foreign cells. It provides healthy inflammatory response and promotes healthy cellular functioning by killing unhealthy free radical cells that are generated at inflammatory sites.

Sources: carrots, and tomatoes.

Vitamin K aids in a healthy blood-clotting and healing of infections and injury.

Vitamins B1and B2 prevents impairment of normal antibody response and vitamin B12 is needed for phagocytic cells and T-cell function.

Vitamin B6 promotes synthesis of antibodies and prevents impairment of T-cells and decrease in blood lymphocyte counts

Vitamin C enhances the immune system response to antigens, promote phagocytic cell functions, and support healthy T-cell function. It also provides antioxidant activity to support healing at inflammatory sites.
